Differentiation or Differentiated Instruction (DI) is the notion of meeting students where they are instructionally in terms of readiness, interest, or learning profile (learning style).

DI might be defined as a way to “maximize each student's growth by recognizing that students have different ways of learning, different interests, and different ways of responding to instruction.1)

One must be skilled at Task Analysis as well as have formative data on students in terms of readiness, interest and learning profile.
